Open Science (OS) is a process of transformation of the practice of research aimed at making research open, collaborative and close to society, exploiting digital technologies, involving all stakeholders and with the aim of addressing the societal challenges.

OS aims to make the practices and outputs of scientific research available to everyone (e.g., through participation in ESFRI networks of European infrastructures), not only at the end of the research, but in a transparent way during the research process itself.

The pillars of the OS concern:

  • publications (Open Access)
  • the data (Open Research Data)
  • open science and community involvement (Citizens' Science)
  • Specific targets and macro actions are illustrated in the OpenScience@Unibo program. The program was presented to the Academic Bodies in January 2020. Some specific measures are explained under the Public&Social engagement page.
